Terms of Service

Last updated: October 10, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Mint (“the Software”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Software. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Software constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Continuing from Welcome indicates that you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. From Direct 1.0.76 and Setapp 1.0.36, usage sharing is on by default after you acknowledge the disclosure on Welcome. A choice you made earlier is kept; installations that acknowledged the earlier policy without choosing are asked once before this default applies. You can turn usage sharing off under Account > Share my usage statistics without losing functionality. The limited app-opened and setup signals described in the Privacy Policy continue when sharing is off. Earlier Direct and Setapp versions required a separate choice to enable usage analytics. The Mac App Store edition requires your separate analytics choice before collecting any Mint product event, including setup completion; accepting these Terms alone does not authorize that collection. You can decline optional analytics or turn them off in Settings without losing product functionality.

2. Description of Service

Mint is a macOS desktop application that helps users organize, categorize, and manage files on their local computer. The Software uses on-device technologies including OCR (via Apple Vision), metadata analysis, language detection, and image classification to analyze and organize files. All processing occurs locally on your Mac.

3. Access Tiers

Current Direct Free Tier

The Direct Free tier is free to download and to keep using, without an account or payment information. Disk scans and memory release, whether manual or through Auto Care, are free without time or usage limits. From Direct 1.0.96, cleaning and organizing share one free allowance of 1 GB a week, resetting on Monday. Cleanup counts bytes removed or rewritten by Disk cleanup, storage optimization (Optimize), compression, app uninstall and removal of app leftovers, Trash removal, and package-manager cleanup, including cleanup through the Direct CLI or MCP. Organizing counts the size of the files Mint successfully moves. A run skips files that do not fit the remaining allowance and can continue with smaller files; skipped files stay in place. Manual use and Auto Care share this allowance. Onboarding is provided free of charge: actions taken during the first-run setup do not consume the weekly allowance. After setup, the first cleanup and every later cleanup or organizing run count toward the same allowance. Failed moves consume nothing; undo does not refund usage. Cleaning or organizing beyond the remaining weekly allowance requires paid access or the next reset. Package-manager cleanup requires its whole checked scope to fit because the operation cannot be split. Auto Care for Disk, memory, and folders is included in the Direct Free tier from Direct 1.0.92, without a plan or trial. When the shared allowance is spent, Disk and folder Auto Care pause until the reset; memory Auto Care continues. Using the free tier never starts an automatic charge. Feature availability is listed on the pricing and edition comparison. Earlier releases retain the access model described in section 4.

Paid Access

Mint Unlimited removes the shared weekly allowance for cleanup, organizing and Auto Care, within the features supported by your edition and installed version. Auto Care operates while Mint is running, after you enable it, within the supported categories, folders, permissions, schedules, and memory settings you choose. When paid access ends, the Direct Free tier described above applies again, and Disk scans and memory release remain free. The Direct free allowances and these feature boundaries do not replace the separate Mac App Store or Setapp terms.

Current Direct website customers may choose a One-Time license for 1–5 Macs they own or use: $39.99 for the first Mac and $20 for each additional Mac ($59.99, $79.99, $99.99 or $119.99 for 2, 3, 4 or 5 Macs). Rent to Own covers one Mac at $9.99 per month for four monthly payments ($39.96 total before applicable tax). Rent to Own provides Unlimited access from the first payment and ends its scheduled charges after the fourth payment, when ownership is retained. A One-Time purchase includes every Mint 1.x release, and installed versions may be used indefinitely. Rent to Own ownership includes the same. This applies to purchases made before October 9, 2026 as well. A later major version, if one is released, may be offered as a separate, optional purchase, and it does not disable any version you already have. The Mac App Store offers its own Monthly subscription and one-time Lifetime purchase, with marketplace-specific trial and access terms. Setapp access follows the plan and terms shown by Setapp. Direct purchases do not replace marketplace purchases.

4. Earlier Releases and Existing Purchases

Direct 1.0.92 through 1.0.95 have separate weekly allowances of 1 GB cleanup and 50 organized files. Direct 1.0.92 through 1.0.96 also included a free first manual cleanup after setup, in addition to the setup gift. Earlier Direct releases distributed as Mint Free had a weekly allowance of up to 210 organized files and 3.5 GB cleaned, resetting every Monday. Direct 1.0.36 offered a seven-day full-feature trial, after which scanning remained available and other actions required paid access. Direct releases between 1.0.36 and 1.0.92 had a shared 1 GB cleanup allowance that never reset, and from Direct 1.0.83 they included one seven-day Auto Care trial per Mac that ended by itself. Access terms depend on the installed version; the current download uses the free tier described in section 3. Existing purchases retain the entitlement on the order receipt; this clarification does not revoke them. Customers can sign in with their verified purchase email to restore paid access or manage the connected Mac.

5. Payment and Refunds

Direct website purchases are processed securely through Lemon Squeezy. Existing recurring subscriptions, including Annual plans, follow their order terms. Current Rent to Own charges monthly for four payments and then stops; it is not an indefinite subscription. You may cancel through Lemon Squeezy’s order portal before the next billing date; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. If Rent to Own is canceled before completion, access follows the installed version’s unpaid terms after the paid period, and payment progress is retained. Resume through the order portal, or contact support before starting a replacement plan so your progress can be carried forward. Completed ownership is not canceled by the end of scheduled payments. Prices, billing periods, renewal terms, and applicable taxes are displayed before purchase. Mac App Store purchases are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. Setapp Marketplace purchases are processed by Setapp, which manages licensing, payments, applicable taxes, and first-line billing and licensing support for the Setapp edition.

Direct purchase refunds: We want you to be satisfied with Mint. If you are not happy with a direct website charge, you may request a full refund within 30 days of that charge. To request a refund, contact us through our website or reply to your purchase confirmation email. Refunds are processed through Lemon Squeezy and typically appear within 5–10 business days. This policy does not limit any non-waivable consumer rights that apply to you.

App Store purchase refunds: Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple Media Services terms. To request a refund for an App Store purchase, use Apple’s purchase history and refund flow.

Setapp purchase refunds and cancellations: Refunds, cancellations, renewals, and billing support for purchases made through the Setapp Marketplace are handled by Setapp under the terms and purchase flow presented by Setapp.

6. Software Provided As-Is

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

While we strive to make Mint reliable and accurate, no software can guarantee perfect file organization in every scenario. We recommend reviewing Mint’s proposed changes before applying them and maintaining regular backups of your important files.

7. User Responsibility for Files

You are solely responsible for your files and data. Mint provides tools to organize and manage your files, including an undo feature that allows you to reverse recent file operations. However:

  • We do not guarantee that all operations can be undone in every circumstance.
  • We are not responsible for any data loss, file corruption, or unintended file modifications that may occur during use of the Software.
  • We strongly recommend maintaining independent backups of your files before using any automated file organization tool, including Mint.
  • The undo history is stored locally and may be cleared if you uninstall the application or delete its support files.

IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

8. Intellectual Property

Mint, including its name, logo, user interface design, source code, documentation, and all related materials, is the intellectual property of the Mint team and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your purchase of a license grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Software in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Software.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except where permitted by applicable law.
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the Software.
  • Use the Mint name, logo, or branding for any purpose without prior written permission.
  • Share account credentials, transfer paid access, or sublicense the Software to third parties except where these Terms or applicable law allow it.

9. Account and Access Restrictions

Direct paid access is tied to the verified Mint account that claims the purchase and may be connected to the number of Macs stated at checkout and on the receipt (one Mac if no other allowance is stated). We reserve the right to suspend accounts or entitlements that are shared, redistributed, obtained fraudulently, or used in violation of these Terms. App Store entitlements are tied to the Apple Account used for purchase and are managed through Apple. Setapp entitlements and device limits are tied to the applicable Setapp account and purchase and are managed through Setapp. If you believe access was suspended or unavailable in error, please contact the support channel for the distribution platform where you obtained Mint.

10. Updates and Support

Updates are provided through the distribution channel where you obtained the Software, including direct downloads from our website, Sparkle updates, Mac App Store updates, or Setapp updates. An active direct subscription includes access to current releases. A direct One-Time purchase, and Rent to Own once owned, includes every Mint 1.x release; a later major version may be offered separately and is optional, and it does not disable any version you already have. We will make reasonable efforts to provide product support through our website contact form but do not guarantee specific response times or resolution of all issues. Setapp provides first-line support for Setapp billing and licensing matters.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time by uninstalling it from your Mac. You may cancel a direct subscription as described in Section 5; Unlimited remains available through the paid period, and afterward the installed version's free access applies. We may terminate or suspend paid access if you violate these Terms, in which case your right to Unlimited throughput may cease immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, and Disclaimer of Warranties) will remain in effect.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SOFTWARE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YOUR MINT LICENSE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Mint team operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Software shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if necessary, binding arbitration.

14. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Software after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the application or website.

16. Apple App Store Addendum

This Addendum applies only when you obtain Mint through the Mac App Store. For purchases on the App Store, the following terms supplement Sections 1–15 above, and where there is any conflict between this Addendum and the sections above, this Addendum controls for App Store users.

16.1 Acknowledgement

You acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and DZG Studio LLC only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). DZG Studio LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Software and the content thereof. These Terms may not provide for usage rules for the Software that are in conflict with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions as of the date you obtained the Software, and in the event of any conflict the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions will control.

16.2 Scope of License

The license granted to you for the Software is limited to a non-transferable license to use the Software on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the Software may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with the purchaser via Family Sharing or volume purchasing where permitted by Apple.

16.3 Maintenance and Support

DZG Studio LLC is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services with respect to the Software, as specified in these Terms or as required under applicable law. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the Software.

16.4 Warranty

DZG Studio LLC is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed in these Terms. In the event of any failure of the Software to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the Software to you; and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the Software, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be the sole responsibility of DZG Studio LLC.

16.5 Product Claims

DZG Studio LLC, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the Software or your possession and/or use of the Software, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the Software fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.

16.7 Legal Compliance

You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

16.8 Developer Name and Address

Any questions, complaints, or claims with respect to the Software should be directed to:

DZG Studio LLC

United States
Email: dev@dzgapp.com

16.9 Third Party Terms of Agreement

You must comply with applicable third party terms of agreement when using the Software.

16.10 Third Party Beneficiary

You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple’s subsidiaries, are third party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third party beneficiary thereof.

16.11 App Store Purchases

The Mac App Store edition offers free use and a Monthly subscription or Lifetime Unlimited as a one-time, non-consumable In-App Purchase. Free allowances depend on the installed version. In App Store 1.0.92, scanning is free and unlimited, and each week includes 1 GB of cleanup and 50 organized files. Manual use and Auto Care share these allowances; Auto Care is included without a plan. Actions during setup do not count, and the first manual cleanup after setup is free regardless of size. Undo does not restore the organizing allowance. Monthly and Lifetime remove both weekly limits. Check the App Store listing for the version currently available.

Monthly renews until canceled through your Apple account; Lifetime does not renew. Buying Lifetime does not cancel an existing Monthly subscription, which must be managed separately with Apple. Current regional prices and billing terms are displayed before purchase. Apple processes purchases, restoration, cancellation, and refund requests under Apple Media Services terms.

17. Setapp Marketplace Addendum

This Addendum applies only when you obtain Mint through the Setapp Marketplace. For Setapp purchases, the following terms supplement Sections 1–15 above.

17.1 Setapp Terms

Your purchase and use of Mint through Setapp are also subject to Setapp’s applicable terms of use and privacy notice. If these Terms conflict with Setapp’s terms regarding a Setapp transaction, billing, entitlement, device limit, cancellation, or refund, Setapp’s applicable terms control for that matter.

17.2 Licensing and Purchases

Setapp manages distribution, licensing, payments, applicable taxes, entitlement validation, and device limits for the Setapp edition. The available license model, price, billing period, renewal terms, trial terms, and device allowance are shown by Setapp before purchase.

17.3 Platform Data

The Setapp edition includes the Setapp Framework. Setapp may collect limited usage, performance, and device information from users who activate Mint through Setapp for licensing, distribution, reliability, and developer reporting. From Setapp 1.0.36, Mint shares the privacy-minimized first-party usage data described in our Privacy Policy by default after you acknowledge the Welcome disclosure, while preserving an earlier choice. You can turn usage sharing off under Account > Share my usage statistics. The disclosed app-opened and setup signals continue when sharing is off. Earlier Setapp versions required a separate choice to enable usage analytics. These records are not joined to Setapp customer or purchase data. Mint does not send Setapp your file contents, filenames, folder structure, or Mint activity and undo history. See our Privacy Policy and Setapp’s Privacy Notice for details.

17.4 Support

Setapp provides first-line support for billing and licensing issues related to Setapp purchases. DZG Studio LLC remains responsible for Mint’s functionality and product support. Product questions can be sent to dev@dzgapp.com or submitted through our contact form.
